4-year-old-boy killed after being struck in head by tombstone that toppled over at cemetery

ODESSA, Texas – A 4-year-old West Texas boy has died after he was struck in the head by a falling tombstone in a cemetery.

Odesa Police spokesman Cpl. Steve LeSueur says Levi Driver was playing while his family was nearby visiting a gravesite at the Ector County Cemetery when a nearly 100-year-old headstone toppled over Friday afternoon.

The child was taken to Odesa Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police say they’re continuing to investigate as an accident and no foul play is suspected.

It was not immediately clear how the stone fell, although it’s in the oldest section of the cemetery.
