NY judge weighing case against Douglas Kennedy over hospital baby scuffle
MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – A prosecutor says a son of the late Robert F. Kennedy resorted to violence when nurses wouldn’t let him take his newborn son out of a suburban New York hospital.
Assistant District Attorney Amy Puerto summed up the child endangerment and physical harassment case Friday against Douglas Kennedy.
Two nurses say Kennedy injured them on Jan. 7.
Kennedy’s lawyers say the nurses overreacted to his request to take the baby out for some air. They say the nurses are not being truthful about what happened.
But Puerto said Kennedy should have complied when nurses told him he was violating hospital policy.
The judge did not say when he would issue a verdict.
Kennedy is the 10th of 11 children of Robert and Ethel Kennedy. His father was assassinated in 1968.
