It’s a good time for 3 of 4 Tony-nominated musicals on Broadway, but ‘The Visit’ is struggling

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Three of the four Tony Award-nominated new musicals are enjoying a flush time on Broadway. One is hitting a sour note.

“An American in Paris,” earned more dollars and ticket-buyers last week than the previous week, according to The Broadway League. It ended the week Sunday with a haul of $1,298,817 and a theatre 98 per cent full.

“Fun Home” also saw both more traffic and dollars, capturing $571,496 or about three-quarters of its potential. And “Something Rotten!” made $100,000 more than the previous period to have its best week yet at $903,211.

But the numbers for “The Visit” haven’t taken off. Last week, it made only 27 per cent of its $762,616 potential at the Lyceum Theatre. The theatre is only half full and it actually posted 384 fewer ticket-buyers.
