Canadian teen Osmond captures gold at Skate Canada in her Grand Prix debut

WINDSOR, Ont. – Canadian youngster Kaetlyn Osmond has captured a gold medal at Skate Canada International in her first-ever Grand Prix appearance.

The 16-year-old from Marystown, N.L., fell once on her triple Lutz but skated an otherwise strong program to “Carmen” to score 115.89 for her free skate.

Osmond, who started the day in second place behind Georgia’s Elene Gedevanishvili, scored 176.45 for gold.

Gedevanishvili had an error-filled free skate to fall into fifth place.

Akiko Suzuki won the silver and Japanese teammate Kanako Murakami captured the bronze.
