UPDATE: Shooting at 7-Eleven in Kelowna

KELOWNA – Police are on the scene of a shooting at a Kelowna convenience store this afternoon.

RCMP were called to a report a man had been shot outside the 7-Eleven in Rutland around 2:15 p.m., Feb. 15, in the 100-block of Highway 33 East.

A man was taken to hospital in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries after receiving 'an apparent gunshot wound,' according to an RCMP media release.

Const. Jesse O’Donaghey says schools in the area were placed in a temporary 'hold and secure,' while police searched for a suspect with police dogs. It has since been lifted.

“The investigation is in its early stages, and police will provide updated information as it becomes available,” O’Donaghey says in the release.
