Identity of Vernon motorcycle crash victim released

VERNON – A motorcyclist killed in a crash in Vernon over the weekend has been identified.

He was Shawn Jeremy Lank, 43, from Salmon Arm, according to a media release from the B.C. Coroners Service.

Lank was driving a motorcycle northbound on Highway 97 around 5:30 p.m. Feb. 13 when he struck a southbound SUV head-on. Lank died at the scene.

Vernon RCMP said Lank lost control of his motorcycle and crossed the centre line. Investigators continue to look into the cause, but believe speed was a contributing factor.

Lank’s family has been notified and the B.C. Coroners Service continues to investigate the death.
