VERNON – Photos of bobcats and lynx are being sought as part of a university study.

The research project at UBC Okanagan will explore whether bobcats are moving northwards in B.C. and into higher elevations.

Researchers are asking people to send in photos from across B.C. to help figure out the current provincial distribution of each species.

The photos don’t need to be great photography, they just have to show a bobcat or a lynx, or even just part of one. It doesn’t matter if the pictures are blurry or dark, researchers still want them.

If you can help, send photos, and as specific a location as possible to TJ Gooliaff at tj.gooliaff@ubc.ca.

Ideally, the location will include UTM or LAT/LONG coordinates, otherwise the name of the nearest road or landmark, or nearest town, watershed or management unit will do. Those submitting photos are asked to include the distance from the road, landmark or town, as well as the date the picture was taken.
