VERNON – North Okanagan-Shuswap MP Mel Arnold’s win in the October 2015 election was helped along by over $100,000 in election expenses.
The Conservative MP was the first from the riding to post his expenses online Friday, Feb. 19. Candidates have until the end of the day to release a breakdown of their campaign costs.
Arnold’s campaign was bolstered by $63,500 from the North Okanagan-Shuswap Conservative Association, along with nearly $10,500 in other monetary contributions.
Records show Arnold also received just over $38,000 from the Government of Canada on Nov. 26.
Overall, Arnold spent close to $112,000 during the lengthy campaign. The limit set by Elections Canada is $255,644. Arnold spent roughly $7,300 in personal expenses and had a surplus at the end of the campaign of about $950.
