Canada Day – Free Transit Service
On Canada Day residents are invited to ride the bus for free! The City of Kamloops and B.C. Transit are flying the flag and showing their Canadian pride by offering free rides all day long on July 1.
All existing routes will be fare-free, and there will also be free shuttle services offered from the Lansdowne Village transit exchange to Riverside Park.
"Providing free transit on Canada Day is yet another way to help boost transit ridership in Kamloops, by introducing transit to residents who may not otherwise ride the bus. As added bonuses, the free ride lessens congestion in the downtown area, and reduces overall greenhouse gas emissions, which are all objectives laid out by our Sustainable Kamloops Plan," said Mayor Peter Milobar.
Canada Day celebrations will take place at Riverside Park starting at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast offered by the Brock Lions Club, and ending with a fireworks show at 10 p.m.
Kamloops Transit will operate with a Saturday level of service on Monday, July 1, 2013. Please visit www.bctransit.com for more details.
