Rock climber rescued in Kelowna

KELOWNA – A rock climber stuck on a rock ledge in a regional park in Kelowna yesterday was rescued by firefighters.

The Kelowna Fire Department’s rope rescue team was called at about 3:20 p.m., Feb. 20, to Woodhaven Regional Park in the Mission area, according to a media release.

The climber had become stuck on a ledge about 150 feet from the top of a rock face at the end of Steele Road.

A rescue climber was lowered to the stranded climber. The climber was placed in a harness and lowered to the bottom of the canyon, Platoon Capt. Tim Light says in the release.
