City seeks your input on Kamloops budget
KAMLOOPS – The City of Kamloops is looking to its citizens for budget ideas.
The city is inviting residents to the Sandman Centre tomorrow, Feb. 23, from 7 to 10 p.m. to discuss the supplemental budget for 2016 and begin discussions on the 2017 budget.
Supplemental budget requests were presented to council last month. Requests included storm infrastructure upgrades and a pickle ball court.
With the requests included in the budget, property taxpayers would see a just over two per cent rise in their property taxes, or about $36 for the average home of $350,000. The average home owner would still be paying less than the provincial average.
Some budget items have already been approved by council, including an increase to utility rates.
