Quebec provincial police seek 17 people in alleged construction fraud

MONTREAL – Quebec provincial police are seeking 17 people in a series of raids connected to an alleged multi-million dollar fraud scheme in the construction industry.

The raids stem from an investigation started last year into a vast scheme involving false billing by companies involved in the construction industry.

Police suspect the scheme allowed the perpetrators to pocket around $9.5 million.

Charges include gangsterism, fabrication of false documents, and conspiracy.

The early morning raids were carried out in Montreal and several other cities.

Police were accompanied in their swoop by agents from the provincial Revenue Department.
