Trial of Calgary psychiatrist will continue after jury agrees to sit longer

CALGARY – The trial of a former Calgary psychiatrist charged with sexually-assaulting his court-appointed patients will continue.

The jurors in the trial of Dr. Aubrey Levin (luh-VEEN’) had been asked by the judge in the case whether they would be able to stay weeks longer than original end date of the trial.

All 12 have indicated to Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Donna Shelley that they are willing to remain.

The original end date for the trial had been mid-November but Levin hired a new lawyer who asked for a two-week adjournment pushing the end date to mid-December.

The case will now resume Nov. 13.

Levin faces 10 sexual assault charges and was arrested two years ago after one of his patients came forward with secret video he had taken during one of his sessions.
