Premiers in P.E.I. and Saskatchewan competing for ‘Movember’ bragging rights

CHARLOTTTOWN, – Prince Edward Island Premier Robert Ghiz has accepted an unusual challenge from Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall.

Ghiz says the two men are now in a competition to determine who can grow the best moustache as part of the Movember fundraising campaign for prostate cancer research — last year, Canadians raised $42 million for the cause.

The P.E.I. premier says Wall called to ask him for a donation toward his goal of raising $3,000 by Nov. 1.

By Monday, the Saskatchewan premier was closing in on $4,000.

Ghiz says he’s not setting a fundraising target, but he’s already on Facebook asking for donations.

The premiers will get a chance to compare facial hair at a meeting in Halifax in late November.
