UPDATE: Kamloops man arrested on Westsyde Road faces possible drug and firearm charges

KAMLOOPS – A 20-year-old man was arrested by Kamloops RCMP this morning as part of an ongoing investigation.

RCMP say the man was arrested during a traffic stop on Westsyde Road near Westmount Drive at about 11:30 a.m., Feb. 25, for breaching a conditional sentence order.

Amanda Cosburn was with her husband when traffic stopped as police cars swept in, she says.

"We didn’t know what was going on at first," she says. "It definitely looked like it was coordinated. We didn’t even hear sirens, just saw the flashing lights."

She says that her husband saw police offcers advancing with their guns drawn. Traffic started moving shortly after and as their car passed the scene, Cosburn says she saw a man in a black sweatshirt in handcuffs. Nearby a silver car was pulled over with windows and doors open with three or four police cars at the scene, she says, including one or two undercover vehicles.

Officers searched the man's home where they found a firearm and some drugs, according to a RMCP media release.

The Kamloops man remains in custody while police consider charges.
