Canadian under-20 rugby side scores big win, moves closer to promotion
LISBON, Portugal – Guiseppe du Toit kicked a penalty in injury time to lead Canada to a 13-11 win over Tonga at the World Rugby U20 Trophy on Wednesday.
Canada (3-0-0) will play Georgia (3-0-0) in the final of the second-tier tournament Sunday to see who gets promoted to the elite World Rugby U20 Championship.
Tries by Theo Sauder, on a 50-metre run, and Ollie Nott gave Canada a 10-3 lead at the half. Tonga then went ahead 11-10 after a try and penalty kick.
Du Toit and Dylan Horgan missed second-half penalties before du Toit booted the deciding kick that moved coach Jeff Williams team into the final.
