Rain possible this weekend in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – The temperatures will continue to stay above seasonal normals but come with a chance of showers this weekend.

Environment Canada is calling for temperatures to reach highs of 8 Celsius to 11 C this weekend while overnight lows are expected to stay above 0 C. Seasonal normal temperatures for this time of year range from a low of -3 C to a high of 7 C.

Those warmer temperatures will likely be accompanied by a mix of sun and cloud this weekend, and a chance of showers tonight, Feb. 26, tomorrow morning and Sunday.

If you’re heading up to Sun Peaks expect highs just above 0 C all weekend along with a mix of sun and clouds. Isolated flurries are also expected Saturday morning and then afternoon snow on Sunday.

Avalanche risk is expected to range from low to considerable across the region this weekend, according to Avalanche Canada. The forecasting agency notes there have been numerous natural and person-triggered avalanches this week and extra caution is required, especially during the heat of the day.

Expect at least chance of showers this afternoon and evening along Highway 5 followed by wet snow late in the evening at the Coquihalla Summit and flurries at high elevations further north on the highway. A chance of showers is expected late this afternoon and evening on the Okanagan Connector, followed by evening flurries, and periods of wet snow are expected on Highway 3 beginning this evening. You can also expect a few flurries at the higher elevations on Highway 1 tonight.
