Founder of Reno’s Louis’ Basque Corner restaurant dies
RENO, Nev. – The founder of a popular Basque restaurant that opened in downtown Reno 50 years ago has died.
Louis Erriguible opened Louis’ Basque Corner a few blocks east of the downtown casino district in 1967.
KRNV-TV reports (http://tinyurl.com/ya3su84c) he died Sunday at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Reno at the age of 90.
His daughter, Margi, says Erriguible was born in France on Aug. 25, 1926 and moved to Reno in 1948.
He retired in 2010 and later sold the business, but the restaurant helped celebrate his 90th birthday last August.
A memorial service is planned at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Reno on Aug. 26, to be followed by a reception at Louis’ Basque Corner.
