Canadian forward Deanne Rose to join England’s Reading FC after Tokyo Olympics

Canadian forward Deanne Rose has signed with England’s Reading FC.

The 22-year-old from Alliston, Ont., currently at the Olympics in Tokyo, spent the last four years at the University of Florida.

Rose has 10 goals and eight assists in 58 appearances for Canada.

“At the age of 22, she already has over 50 caps for Canada, which is very impressive and it shows you the ability of the player we’ve secured,” Reading manager Kelly Chambers said in a statement.

“Deanne is extremely ambitious, and is a player that wants to take her game to the next level. She has the drive and determination to want to be the best, and I am so excited to work with her to support her ambitions alongside pushing the team to the next level.”

Reading said Rose will join the team in August after the Olympics.

Rose joins fellow Canadians Janine Beckie (Manchester City), Jessie Fleming (Chelsea), Rylee Foster (Liverpool), Adriana Leon (West Ham) and Shelina Zadorsky (Tottenham) in the FA Women’s Super League.

Reading finished seventh in the 12-team league last season with a 5-8-9 record.

Rose was taken 10th overall in the NWSL draft in January.
