Correction: Charlotte Police-Fatal Shooting story

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In a story Aug. 9 about the 2016 shooting of a black man by police in Charlotte, The Associated Press reported erroneously the race of the officer who shot the man. Officer Brentley Vinson is black, not white.

Closing statements coming in review of fatal police shooting
A citizens review board went through a second day of a hearing without reaching a decision on a North Carolina police force’s decision that the shooting of black man by a police officer was justified
After two days of testimony, closing statements are expected Thursday as a citizens review board considers the 2016 fatal shooting of a black man by a North Carolina police officer.
The board continued its closed door session Wednesday to discuss the September 2016 shooting of Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte. About a dozen protesters stood silently outside the meeting room, some holding bumper stickers which read “Stop Killing Us.” Scott’s shooting last September provoked days of civil unrest.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have said the shooting by Officer Brentley Vinson, who is black, was justified. The board is scrutinizing that finding.
In June, the board said it found a potential unspecified error in the department’s decision.
Mecklenburg County District Attorney Andrew Murray has said no charges would be filed.
