RICHMOND, B.C. – MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX:MDA) said Wednesday it has signed a multi-million dollar contract to develop a system to allow the U.S. air force to use imagery from two commercial satellites.
Under the deal with DigitalGlobe, MDA will develop a system that will allow two of the U.S. air force’s Eagle Vision mobile ground systems to receive and process imagery from the WorldView-1 and WorldView-2 satellites.
MDA previously developed systems for U.S. air force that included data from the Radarsat-2 satellite and RapidEye images.
Eagle Vision includes five ground stations that collect and process data from commercial satellites.
Shares in MDA, which announced the deal after the close of markets, were down 21 cents at $56 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
