KELOWNA – The driver who hit a semi truck and then collided with a pickup truck on Highway 97 last night has died.
The driver of a black Mitsubishi Lancer was travelling northbound on Highway 97 when it struck a southbound tractor trailer turning left on to Edwards Road just after 9 p.m., yesterday, Feb. 29. It then struck a Chevrolet Avalanche stopped at the lights before also striking a telephone pole.
The driver of the car died at the scene. Two others were transported to hospital with minor, non-life threatening injuries, according Const. Jesse O’Donaghey of Kelowna RCMP.
The highway was closed for several hours while RCMP analyzed the scene. RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service continue to investigate.
