Police: Teenage suspect killed in Mississippi home invasion
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Police say a teenage suspect was fatally shot in an apparent home invasion in Mississippi.
Hattiesburg police told WDAM-TV that they believe the homeowner shot 17-year-old Justin Woodland on Sunday night. Authorities say no charges are being filed against the homeowner and the case will be presented to a grand jury.
Forrest County deputy coroner Lisa Klem says Woodland’s body will be sent to an autopsy in Jackson.
Police have charged a second suspect, Anton Smith, with armed robbery and burglary of a dwelling. It is unclear whether Smith has an attorney to comment on the charges.
