MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay – Canada A capped a winless run at the 2017 Americas Pacific Challenge rugby tournament with a 45-26 defeat to the USA Selects on Sunday.
Canada A opened the developmental tournament with a 71-17 defeat to Argentina XV last weekend before losing 31-15 to Tonga A this week.
Raymond Barkwill, Guiseppe Du Toit, Lucas Rumball and Kainoa Lloyd had tries for the Canadian team while Robert Povey had three conversions.
Hanco Germishuys led the American squad with four tries. Bryce Campbell, Ruben De Hass and Hugh MacLellan II also scored tries.
The tournament was intended to expose up-and-coming players to the international game.
The Canadian senior team, currently ranked 24th in the world, is due to play the New Zealand Maori All Blacks in Vancouver on Nov. 3 before heading to Europe to face No. 12 Georgia on Nov. 11 in Tbilisi, No. 19 Spain on Nov. 18 in Madrid and No. 9 Fiji on Nov. 25 in Montpellier, France.
