Mark Salling dropped from miniseries after child porn charge

LOS ANGELES – The “Glee” actor charged with receiving and possessing child pornography has been dropped from his latest project.

The writer-director of “Adi Shankar’s Gods and Secrets” says actor Mark Salling is being removed from the miniseries, which stars Denise Richards and Jane Seymour.

Adi Shankar decried the victimization of women and children in a lengthy statement Tuesday announcing Salling’s dismissal. Shankar also said he will fund the necessary reshoots himself and plans to donate a portion of the series’ proceeds to “a charity for abused children.”

Federal officials charged Salling last week with using the internet to obtain pornographic images of underage girls and possessing other child porn videos. If convicted, he could face as much as 20 years in prison for each of the charges.
