LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – Arizona State University is offering a new degree program at its Lake Havasu City campus that aims to provide students with management skills related to the tourism industry.
Today’s News-Herald reports that courses for the bachelor’s degree in tourism and recreation management are set to begin this fall in the community where tourism is the main economic driving force.
Campus director Raymond Van Der Riet says Lake Havasu City is the ideal spot to host the program because students will have local opportunities for internships and shadowing.
Convention and Visitors Bureau CEO Terence Concannon says the university program should help retain more graduates to work in the city’s tourism industry.
Concannon says the bureau is looking to partner with the university to help shape the degree program.
