Man sentenced for stalking Mila Kunis escapes from mental health facility; search underway

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A man sentenced for stalking actress Mila Kunis escaped from a mental health facility over the weekend and was being sought by authorities in Southern California on Monday.

Stuart Lynn Dunn disappeared Saturday night from the Olive Vista Behavioral Health Center in Pomona, Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lt. Martin Rodriguez told news station KNBC-TV (http://bit.ly/1M3S0Vk ).

Sheriff’s deputies and the county’s Probation Department were searching for Dunn, who pleaded no contest to stalking the “Black Swan” and “That ’70s Show” actress in January 2013.

He was arrested in February 2012 for breaking into her vacant condo. Authorities took him into custody again a few months later, after he waited for Kunis outside her gym for three days, in violation of a restraining order.

Dunn was sentenced to six months of rehabilitation and five years of probation and ordered to stay away from the actress and her representatives for 10 years.

Messages seeking comment from representatives for Kunis were not immediately returned Monday.

Stalking laws have been steadily tightened since Rebecca Schaeffer’s murder 25 years ago. The 21-year-old actress-model was shot to death at her Los Angeles apartment in 1989 by obsessed fan Robert Bardo.

Bardo, an Arizona native, wrote Schaeffer letters and tried to meet her at a studio where she worked. He eventually tracked down the “My Sister Sam” actress after paying a private investigator to obtain her home address from state motor vehicle records.

Bardo remains in prison, serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
