RIMOUSKI, Que. – Jasmin Simon stopped all 24 shots he faced and the Rimouski Oceanic put together another strong performance to begin the new Quebec Major Junior Hockey League season, blanking the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 3-0 Saturday.
William Dumoulin scored and added an assist for the Oceanic (6-1-1), which have won three straight games while outscoring opponents 18-3.
Jeremie Biakabutuka and Jacob Mathieu also scored for Rimouski, which outshot Chicoutimi 43-24.
Sergei Litvinov made 40 saves in defeat for the Sagueneens (4-3-2).

SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Moncton (4-3-0) scored three times in the third period, including Miles Mueller’s game-winner at 16:36, and Thomas Couture made 42 saves. William Dufour scored twice in defeat for Saint John (3-4-0).

HALIFAX – Five different Val-d’Or (5-2-1) players found the back of the net and William Blackburn made 28 saves to deny Halifax (4-2-1), which saw its three-game win streak come to an end.

CHARLOTTETOWN – Patrick Guay and Lukas Cormier led the way with two goals each as the Islanders (5-4-0) trounced Rouyn-Noranda (3-5-1). Charlottetown outshot the Huskies 31-12.
