Grace and Pier Robotti to stand trial for second degree murder
PENTICTON – The case of a brother and sister charged in the death of Roxanne Louie took a major step forward today when it was committed to trial.
Grace Robotti, 64, and brother Pier Robotti, 63, will stand trial for second degree murder after a preliminary hearing wrapped up in Penticton court today, March 10, with a decision by Judge Meg Shaw that the Crown had enough evidence to proceed to trial.
After the hearing, Crown Prosecutor Iain Currie answered questions outside on the steps of the courthouse from a number of members of Louie's First Nation community present at the hearing. He said he expects the jury trial could take four to five weeks, adding the trial may not begin until early in 2017.
The Robottis' next court date is scheduled for March 21 at 10 a.m. in Penticton Supreme Court.
