Rain postpones Blue Jays-Nationals series opener; split-doubleheader Tuesday

The interleague series opener between the Toronto Blue Jays and Washington Nationals on Monday has been postponed due to rain.

The teams will play a split-doubleheader Tuesday with the opener at 1:05 p.m.

The NL East-leading Nationals went 18-9 in May, but finished the month with three straight losses at Cincinnati in part because of bullpen woes.

The Blue Jays enter the three-game series having lost two in a row.

R.J. Dickey (2-5, 5.77 ERA) and Nationals right-hander Jordan Zimmermann (4-2, 3.26) were Monday’s scheduled starters.
