Canadian moguls skier Philippe Marquis has suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee one month before the start of the Winter Olympics.
Marquis announced the injury Thursday on his Instagram feed, saying he was hurt Monday during a training run for this week’s World Cup stop in Park City, Utah.
He flew back to his hometown Quebec City, where X-rays and a magnetic resonance imaging test confirmed the severity of the injury.
Marquis said he has begun rehabbing the injury and still plans to represent Canada at the Olympics, which begin Feb. 9 in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
Marquis made his Olympic debut at the Sochi Olympics in 2014, where he finished ninth.
