Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (15,154.68, up 49.94 points):

Stingray Digital Group Inc. (TSX:RAY.A). Digital music distributor. IPO closed at $7.25 on 8.46 million shares. Life as a publicly traded company got off to a strong start Wednesday, with the Montreal-based company’s stock price soaring $1 above the value set in its $140-million initial public offering.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Up 87 cents, or 5.09 per cent, to $17.97 on 6.7 million shares.

Eldorado Gold Corp. (TSX:ELD). Miner. Down 28 cents, or 4.65 per cent, to $5.74 on 5.2 million shares.

Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Financial Services. Up 53 cents, or 2.30 per cent, to $23.54 on 4.5 million shares.

Lundin Mining Corp. (TSX:LUN). Miner. Up 19 cents, or 3.33 per cent, to $5.90 on 4.2 million shares.

Coalspur Mines Ltd. (TSX:CPT). Miner. Up a quarter-of-a-cent, or 14.29 per cent, to two cents on 3.9 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

MEG Energy Corp. (TSX:MEG). Oil and gas. Down 47 cents, or 2.38 per cent, to $19.25 on 748,590 shares. The company says its Christina Lake oilsands operation in northeastern Alberta is getting back to normal following a precautionary evacuation of non-essential staff last week due to a forest fire. The fire continues to burn about 20 kilometres from MEG’s operations but provincial authorities have told the company it’s being held under control.
