Police search 1st Avenue complex Thursday

KAMLOOPS – Police were on scene conducting a search at 1st Avenue and Battle Street around a residential complex called Elm Tree Place Thursday during the noon hour.

Four police cars were on the scene with Mounties jumping the fence at 423 1st Avenue. Others were seen manuevering on foot around the building and a K-9 unit was on site waiting for a call to action.

One resident said they believe police were responding to a break and enter but RCMP on scene declined comment. 

The road was not blocked off at any point and area residents were told by RCMP it was safe to walk along the sidewalk near the complex. Most of the police cars had cleared the scene within 20 minutes.
