Toronto chef Susur Lee joins judging panel on inaugural ‘MasterChef Asia’
Toronto-based chef Susur Lee is joining the lineup of judges for the inaugural season of “MasterChef Asia.”
The Hong Kong-born Lee joins three Michelin-starred chef Bruno Menard and culinary TV personality and Singapore-born Audra Morrice, a “MasterChef Australia” finalist, A+E Networks Asia announced Friday.
No stranger to television, Lee was a finalist on “Top Chef Masters,” tied chef Bobby Flay in “Battle Bacon” on “Iron Chef America” and has been a guest judge on “Top Chef Canada” and “Chopped Canada.”
He has won many culinary awards, including Food and Wine magazine’s “Ten Chefs of the Millennium,” and is owner-chef of four restaurants in Toronto — Lee, Luckee, Bent and Lee Kitchen — as well as TungLok Heen in Singapore.
For 20 years, he has been the executive consulting chef for the TungLok Group, which owns more than 40 restaurants in Asia.
“MasterChef Asia” is set to air in 2015 with a 15-episode series featuring aspiring home cooks from China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
