KAMLOOPS – A man watching a child play at a North Shore park yesterday raised alarm bells with the mother and RCMP are now looking to identitify the suspicious male.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. yesterday, March 15, on Schubert Drive and Sydney Avenue, Cpl. Cheryl Bush, a spokesperson for Kamloops RCMP, says in a release.
“A mother observed a male in a vehicle who appeared to be watching her daughter playing in the park. The vehicle then seemed to follow them for a bit as they were walking home,” Bush says.
The vehicle was a four-dour silver car with tinted windows and a B.C. license plate beginning with the letter ‘v’. The mother says the man was Caucasian, in his 30s and had a long beard, tanned skin and a black hat.
Bush says now that spring has hit and children are more likely to spend time outdoors, it’s a good time for parents to discuss safety around strangers with their kids.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to phone Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
