Vernon truck driver killed in crash near Alberta border

VERNON – The B.C. Coroners Service has released the name of the two people who were killed in a collision on the Yellowhead Highway near Tete Jaune Cache this week.

Bruce Donald Sykes, 64, of Vernon and Karmen Anne McGee, 25, of New Westminster were killed in the crash on March 16, according to a media release.

McGee was driving a SUV southbound on Highway 16 when her vehicle collided with a loaded tractor trailer driven by Sykes, about four kilometres east of Tete Jaune Cache.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

The B.C. Coroners Service, WorkSafe B.C., Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement and the RCMP continue to investigate.

Tete Jaune Cache is about 340 kilometres north of Kamloops near the Alberta border.
