UBCO engineers give siege weapons a try at Trebuchet Competition

KELOWNA – Students of UBC Okanagan’s Engineering Department are holding their fourth annual Trebuchet Competition this weekend.

A trebuchet is a middle age siege weapon that uses a counterweight to fling an object at a target. Members of the Engineering Society will host 14 teams Saturday and Sunday.

The event starts Saturday at 9 a.m. behind the Engineering, Management and Education building at the UBCO campus.

Teams spend Saturday assembling and testing their devices, with competitions and a barbeque on Sunday.

All proceeds raised by the event go to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
