Kelowna Rockets down Giants in Vancouver

VANCOUVER – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Vancouver Giants 5-3 on Friday night, March 18, at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver beginning a season-closing home-and-home series with a win.

The Rockets and Giants meet again tonight in Kelowna.

Justin Kirkland scored twice in the win, scoring his 30th goal of the season as Kelowna improved to 47-20-4-0 on the season.

Rodney Southam, Cole Linaker and Dillon Dube also scored for the Rockets while Michael Herringer earned the win in net. Kelowna outshot the Giants 38-34.

The Rockets close out their the WHL regular season on Saturday night at Prospera Place when they host the Giants.

The team opens the WHL Playoffs next weekend with games one and two of its first round series with Kamloops on Friday and Saturday nights in Kelowna.
