Standoff with police near Kamloops ends with arrests
KAMLOOPS – What started with a report of gunshots on the Skeetchestn reserve near Kamloops early this morning, ended with the arrest of two men following a three-hour standoff with police.
RCMP say they were called to the First Nation at about 3:00 a.m., March 19, after a report of shots fired.
Witnesses saw two men who were carrying “what appeared to be rifles” enter a home on the Skeetchestn reserve west of Kamloops, according to a RCMP media release.
Officers surrounded the residence.
“After approximately three hours police were able to make contact with the males inside, taking both into police custody without incident,” Sgt. Sascha Fesenko says in the release.
Both the men are in custody as police continue to investigate.
