KELOWNA – The Kelowna Rockes defeated the Vancouver Giants 10-1 on Saturday night, March 19, at Prospera Place closing out the WHL regular season with 48 wins heading into the start of the WHL Playoffs next weekend.
Tyson Baillie scored twice, his 42nd and 43rd goals of the season, on a night he was honoured as a five year player, having played 375 games, regular season and playoffs combined, in his Rockets career.
The Rockets finish the year with 100 points and a 48-20-4-0 record, finishing in 2nd place in the WHL Western Conference and getting set to host Kamloops in the first round of the WHL Playoffs.
Calvin Thurkauf also scored twice for the Rockets on Saturday while singles came from Jordan Borstmayer, Justin Kirkland, Rourke Chartier, Lucas Johansen, Tanner Wishnowski and Riley Stadel.
Kelowna outshot Vancouver 51-23 in the game with rookie Brodan Salmond getting the win in net.
The Rockets will now get set for the first round of the WHL Playoffs where they will host the Kamloops Blazers.
Games one and two are at Prospera Place in Kelowna next Friday and Saturday nights.
