Lumby makes it to Hockeyville finals
LUMBY – The arena in Lumby will get a $100,000 renovation after becoming one of two finalists in the Hockeyville 2016 contest.
The top two finalists — Lumby and Saint-Isidore, Quebec — were announced during the Vancouver Canucks-St. Louis Blues NHL game last night, March 19.
While both communities have won $100,000, online voting is underway again to see which city will be named Hockeyville for 2016. The winner will also host a pre-season NHL game.
You can vote as many times as you would like at the Hockeyville website until 9 p.m. Monday.
Lumby residents have said their ice facility, the Pat Duke Memorial Arena, could greatly use the cash infusion. Inadequate change rooms, rotting walls, leaks, and a broken score clock are just some of the issues with the building.
