Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook to grace cover of ‘NBA Live 16’ video game
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Oklahoma City star Russell Westbrook has been chosen as the cover athlete for the “NBA Live 16” video game.
The Thunder point guard, a four-time NBA all-star and 2014 NBA scoring leader, was the 2015 all-star game MVP.
“‘NBA Live 16′ is all about self-expression, and who better embodies that than Westbrook, both on and off the court,” Anthony Stevenson, EA Sports’ vice-president of marketing, said in a statement Tuesday. “Russell plays every game like he has something to prove. Our team is building ‘NBA Live’ the exact same way, so we’re thrilled to have him as an ambassador for our game.”
Developed by Electronic Arts’ Tiburon Studio in Orlando, the video game will be available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. EA did not announce a release date.
Portland’s Damian Lillard was on the cover of “NBA Live 15.”Westbrook’s teammate Kevin Durant was on the cover of the rival “NBA 2K15” video game.
The cover athletes for “NBA 2K16” are Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans and James Harden of the Houston Rockets.
