Salmon Arm RCMP take man with gun into custody after domestic incident

SALMON ARM – A family disturbance turned into a public safety issue this weekend after police were called because a man was in possession of a firearm.

RCMP were called at about 2:50 p.m., March 20, to a home in the 1500-block of 20 Avenue NE for the disturbance.

The man who was having a medical issue also had a gun, according to a RCMP media release.

After speaking with police, the man surrendered to officers and was taken into custody without incident, RCMP say. He was then transported to hospital for his "pre-existing medical issues."

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
