Cell tower knocked down by vandals in Oliver
OLIVER – A cell tower purposely knocked down west of Oliver caused service interruptions to people in the area last week and RCMP want help to find who is responsible for the vandalism.
Telus notified RCMP on March 17 that a 45-metre tower on Fairview Mountain was damaged that afternoon, causing cellular and internet interruptions in the area. The tower was knocked down in an ‘apparent effort to cause willful damage.’
Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says there is no evidence of theft and the sole intent appears to be willful damage.
RCMP are asking anyone with information to contact Oliver RCMP at 250-485-6220 or their local police service. To remain anonymous, you can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
