Kelowna Farmer’s Market will return to Springfield parking lot for another year

KELOWNA – The Kelowna Farmer's and Crafter's Market will be back at their summer location on Springfield and Dilworth Road this weekend.

Office administrator Gail Scanlon says the market moves from its winter location at Parkinson Recreation Centre on the first weekend of April, marking the start of spring. It is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. through until October.

Scanlon says they are constantly getting requests for space from new farmers and crafters.

“We always have more vendors wanting to get in,” she says. “We need more space.”

The Farmer's Market has been using the Orchard Park Mall overflow lot for almost 20 years, and two years ago a sign appeared in a large lot across Springfield Road on Benvoulin Road claiming to be the future home of the market.

Last year board president Bev Wiens said they had not been approached by the owners of the land and were still looking for a permanent location.

Scanlon says that location will be discussed by the board of directors over the coming months.

“The committees are just starting up so we will see,” she says.
