Driver rams into credit union in Vernon

VERNON – A vehicle smashed into the Prospera Credit Union this afternoon.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. today, March 23, in the Vernon Square Mall when the driver went up the curb and into the front entrance of the bank.

Police and the Vernon Fire Department responded to the scene, and Deputy Fire Chief Jack Blair says it appears human error is to blame.

“Somebody apparently having difficulty determining which is the break pedal and which is the gas pedal,” Blair says.

No one was hurt, and there was only minor damage to the car and credit union, Blair says.
