HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The first Gold Star Families Memorial Monument in Mississippi will be unveiled at Camp Shelby.
WDAM-TV reports the unveiling will be at the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum at Camp Shelby on Wednesday at 10 a.m. The event will include a rifle salute and a missing man formation flyover. Gold Star Families are those who lost relatives or other loved ones in military service.
Museum director Tommy Lofton says he thinks people will be pleased with its tie to Mississippi as well as it salutes to veterans and those who have died in service.
The ceremony is free to the public.
