CROWN POINT, Ind. – An Indiana man has pleaded guilty to reckless homicide in connection with the fatal shooting of his 4-year-old nephew.
Twenty-three-year-old Lamario Delgado-Gonzalez of Gary entered the plea Monday in Lake Superior Court. He admitted as part of a plea bargain that he shot Garrion Glover Jr. on May 11, 2017, at an East Chicago apartment.
He had told police he was in a “(marijuana) coma” and could not explain a bullet hole in the couch where he had been sleeping while the boy watched television.
The Lake County Prosecutor’s Office agreed to dismiss murder and neglect charges as part of the plea agreement.
Relatives of the boy said at the time of the shooting that he had shot himself. The Lake County Coroner’s Office later ruled his death a homicide.
