KELOWNA – If the success of the first Okanagan festival for independent short films and documentaries is any indication, there will be a second annual event.

The Okanagan Society of Independent Filmmaking screened 11 films at Indie Fest at the Paramount Theatre in Kelowna Thursday night, March 24.

Mad Mango by Chelsea McEvoy and Isaac Balson won the Best Doc and People’s Choice Awards.

The film documents Patricia Wong's story, the woman behind one of the city’s most popular downtown cafes.

The award for Best Film went to Cubed by Koltyn Gaboury.

The society says the festival is an opportunity to showcase the top filmmaking and acting talent in the Okanagan.

Best Story – Cubed by Koltyn Gaboury
Best Cinematography and Best Post-production – Out of the Darkness by Shri Ananda
