Justify wins at Belmont Stakes to become 13th Triple Crown winner
NEW YORK – Justify has won the Belmont Stakes to become horse racing’s 13th Triple Crown winner and second since 2015.
The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner was a 4-5 favourite heading into the 150th Belmont on Saturday.
With the win, Bob Baffert became just the second trainer to win the Triple Crown twice. He did so in 2015 with American Pharoah, a colt that ended a 37-year drought.
Justify was bred by John Gunther, of Langley, B.C., at Glennwood Farm in Versailles, Ky., which is run by his daughter, Tanya.
